My Fulbright experience in Montenegro was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I arrived in Podgorica, the capital, in August 2019, and was immediately struck by the beauty of the country. The mountains, lakes, and coastline were breathtaking, and the people were warm and welcoming.

I was placed at the University of Montenegro, where I taught English to first-year students. I had never taught before, so I was a bit nervous, but my students were eager to learn and made my job easy.

In addition to teaching, I also had the opportunity to travel around the country and experience the Montenegrin culture. I visited the coastal town of Budva, the medieval city of Kotor, and the stunning Durmitor National Park. I also spent time in the countryside, where I learned about traditional Montenegrin life.

One of the most memorable experiences I had in Montenegro was when I went to a traditional Montenegrin wedding. The wedding was held in a small village in the mountains, and it was a truly unique experience. The food was delicious, the music was lively, and the dancing was spirited.

I also had some humorous experiences while living in Montenegro. One time, I was trying to order a coffee at a cafe and I accidentally used the wrong word. The barista laughed and corrected me, and we both had a good laugh about it.

Another time, I was walking down the street when I saw a group of people playing a traditional Montenegrin game. I asked if I could join in, and they welcomed me with open arms. I had no idea what I was ng, but I had a lot of fun trying to learn.

My Fulbright experience in Montenegro was truly life-changing. I learned so much about the country, its people, and myself. I made lifelong friends, had unforgettable experiences, and grew as a person. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have lived and taught in such a beautiful and welcoming country.
